Don’t Abandon Your Blog!

If you aren’t seeing the results you want from your blog, don’t abandon it yet!

There could be a number of easy fixes to boost the effectiveness and results from your blog. Firstly, you need to recognize that it can take a little time to really get traction. True, some businesses come out of the gate sprinting but unless you really prepped your launch and built up anticipation then it can take a few months to really take off. Other things you may want to look at are your keywords and tags, though often less than sensational results are a result of not doing enough blogging. Note that there is a dramatic difference in interaction for those who post at least 5 times per week.

Then ask yourself if you are telling enough people about your blog. Yes, WordPress can be great for attracting organic traffic but unless you tell people about your blog you have no room to complain about your results. At a minimum this should include regular email clips to your opt-in list, posting excerpts and links on your social media profiles and including your blog address in your signature.

For those wondering if they will see a bigger return on their marketing budget somewhere else, it is highly unlikely. Especially when you factor in the fact that once up your blog posts keep on working for you forever, drawing in traffic, helping your positioning and boosting your SEO. The bottom line is that you need your blog for SEO anyway and blogging is really the easiest way to constantly add fresh new content.

What are the risks of halting your blogging? Sadly it doesn’t matter how great your product or service is and how fantastic the rest of your website is. Savvy online shoppers will want to check your blog, if it is stale and you haven’t posted in 3 months they are going to assume you either aren’t doing well or you have closed up shop, resulting in them automatically hitting the back button to search for one of your competitors.
