Harvard Grads Available For Minimum Wage

The Occupy Wall Street protests continue in New York and are now spreading to other cities including Boston and Chicago. For those who haven’t been keeping up with the news, much of the complaints from the crowd surround the lack of jobs and a desire for higher taxes on the wealthy. Standing around complaining instead of going to look for a job, creating something or at least building a following on Facebook is probably unfathomable for most entrepreneurs but there are a couple things we can learn here.

Interestingly, it isn’t just the young band of college students and usual protesters out on the streets. One CBS News interview revealed one protester is actually a recent Harvard grad with a masters degree. A year later and with $60,000 in student loans he still has been unable to find a job. He isn’t dreaming of becoming the next Mark Zuckerberg, just a regular 9-5. Perhaps a big waste of talent but we all need staff to run our enterprises.

5 things we can learn from the Occupy Wall Street protests:

  1. Borrowing a fortune for education doesn’t guarantee success
  2. The world of industry has definitely changed dramatically
  3. You can pick up extremely qualified staff extremely cheap right now
  4. If you are starting your own business, you are definitely on the right track
  5. You should probably consider forming that Delaware corporation to retain your privacy if you plan to make a lot of money
