Offline Marketing: Facebook Likes For Discounts

Offline businesses can face a tough time trying to find valuable marketing advice today. Business news, columns and coaches all seem to be focusing almost exclusively on new virtual business models and Internet marketing. However, just because you already have a brick and mortar business or really want to open one that focuses on local customers it doesn’t mean that you can’t find cost effective ways of marketing without losing the personal touch.

It may even seem like 90% of all marketing advice today is about social media. However, local businesses don’t have to become Internet experts overnight or miss out on today’s best marketing tools. There are several ways to enjoy the best of both worlds. Facebook is a great starting point for crossing the virtual/ reality divide. Why not offer your walk in customers discounts for liking you on Facebook when they come in? This will help you tap into their social networks and be able to keep them coming back with new product announcements, sales, promotions and just by staying at the forefront of their minds.

Mobile marketing is also a great solution. Not all of your customers may be Facebook addicts but the odds are they do all have mobile phones. Think bulk SMS, QR codes and local search marketing for driving walk in traffic and closing the sale once they are in.
