Perspective: Solving Entrepreneur Syndrome

Chasing your dreams and embracing the independent executive style is certainly freeing and the only way to live if you want to experience all life has to offer you. However doing it alone does comes with a certain handful of quirks. Let’s call this ‘Entrepreneur Syndrome’. One of the symptoms is the solitude that sometimes comes with it going alone. The late nights working on your vision and creating new strategies to take your enterprise to the next level. This can be essential for letting your creative juices flow and getting things done without all the distractions of the day. However, it can lead to a loss of perspective.

As an entrepreneur you have to throw yourself head first into your enterprise and harness an incredible level of focus. When things go right, your genius pays off big time. However there are other times when your focus takes you in the wrong direction because you have developed tunnel vision that prevents you from seeing things from the outside. What makes perfectly logical sense for you as upgrades to your next product launch or as a pitch for your next advertising campaign, maybe a total miss if your perspective isn’t right. Don’t worry it has happened to even the biggest giants like Apple too. Though of course the more of these mishaps you can avoid the better.

Asking your spouse or partner’s input isn’t always the answer either. They may never understand what you are doing. Their support is critical, but don’t always anticipate the best reactions from them, unless you just want to hear that you should stop working and give them some shopping money. You can build on your perspective by testing and using your social media for feedback. However you will find it much more effective to have your own network that will help you maintain the right perspective and help you take advantage of new ideas. This can include an array of people in different businesses and at different levels of success as well as other entrepreneurs just like you. However, you will find having a coach in this mix that can consistently and regularly hold time to help you will be invaluable to your success and the speed at which you get there.
