Social Media: Free Content VS Lead Capture

You have probably read again and again that winning at social media marketing is all about building relationships by providing valuable free content. This is true to a large extent but you are probably asking yourself where the lead generation and actually making money part is supposed to come in.

You can do both and while social media is about simply networking and building contacts you are running a business and you should absolutely be using your social media to convert web traffic into leads and ultimately customers.

This means creating a funnel. Offering content and value that people want and will be attracted to and then leading them through your funnel to becoming paying clients. With a couple of adjustments to your Twitter, Facebook and the page prospects land on, on your website this can easily be accomplished.

Funnel traffic in from your Twitter page to Facebook. Set up an iFrame that locks your Facebook content until visitors ‘like’ your page and then drive them to your landing page which grabs their email addresses and builds your opt-in list.
