There are many debates about whether you should be the tough guy manager or the nice guy everyone loves, but perhaps the one thing that you can do to really enhance the effectiveness of your management right now is to think back to your days as an employee and how you wanted to be managed. Of course now as the business owner there are somethings you recognize that have to be done to run an operation that employees may not like. However, there is a good chance you may be doing a lot of the things which you found sapped your productivity as an employee. This can include micromanaging and holding worthless meetings. Listen to your team and recognize how you can empower them to higher productivity and better job satisfaction while driving up production and profits, even if that is just staying out of the way and letting them get on with it.
